"Again?!", this is the thought you always have when you see a pop up with an update on your computer again. One is just annoyed and clicks on "Remember later". But this is exactly what you should not do, because updates are incredibly important!
The applications you have on computers and servers should always be up to date. This is very important for companies, because up-to-date software helps them to be competitive and to improve their IT security.
Yes, because outdated versions from manufacturers could have security holes, and once a security hole is known, third parties use this hole for cybercriminal movements. Hackers, for example, look at where security holes are located and equip them with malware or can thus access data more easily.
If you do not update, it is very likely that you will become a victim of viruses or a hacker attack. Just a matter of time.
"TLS" is an abbreviation of Transport Layer Security. This is a protocol for secure and encrypted data transmission, which is used with "HTTPS". "HTTPS (secure hypertext transfer protocol) is a communication protocol used on the World Wide Web for secure data transfer. HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol), on the other hand, is only a protocol used for data transmission in networks. This means that data is transferred from a server to a browser.
Strongly simplified you can imagine the data transmission:
When establishing a secure connection, client and server negotiate the transport protocol to be used. Here the client sends a so-called "Hello Message" including TLS version and encryption algorithm to the server. The server then replies and tells the client whether communication is permitted on its part. The other way round works similarly. Only when an "Ok" or handshake comes from both sides is the connection secure.
If they are older TLS versions, client and server agree to use "vulnerable"/insecure protocols.
Therefore, we ask you to make sure that you use current web browsers, operating systems and software, as we will not be able to support older versions after 28.02.2020 for security reasons.
It is anyway recommended to use the software always in current versions by regular updates.
If you use the following web browser and operating system versions, access is possible without problems.
